THE VISITATION OF THE GODS (Reflection)

The story "The Visitation of the gods" by Gilda Cordero-Fernando shows how unequal and unfair life is. Even there are people who act in a right way, still there are people who will block their way. It is the life of the public schools that I experienced once before. Preparing our rooms and some foods for the visitors from the DepEd. It is the life of our beloved teachers who sometimes do not receive equal treatment from other teachers. I realized that being a teacher is not really an easy task to do, teaching the students and understand what the attitude of their co-teacher is. The story shows how difficult in sustaining one's interest in improving the standards of education in the country specially in the public schools. Because in the end, it is always the children who will suffer. The story shows the reality in what is really happening when it comes to pretending. Actually, one of the cultures we have until now is that, everytime that someone with a higher position vis...

Reflection for the song "KANLUNGAN" by Noel Cabangon(READER-RESPONSE CRITICISM)

The song is about old memories, it is about the love of yesterday, which became memory and love that is similar to seasons; it transient. This song has various meaning, thoughts and message. Kanlungan is very heartwarming that tickles the tears you have been hiding in your heart. It is a song about reminiscence that gives us the feeling of nostalgia. In addition, it is a bit mysterious and it uses many figures of speech. This song is really implied full of meanings. It sounds so beautiful. The rhythm and tune is calm, and it talks not only to the mind but also to the soul. The song has a strong connection  with nature, because we can see it through the lyrics. He used nature in order for him to express his feelings and thoughts, he used nature just to reminisce the memories that he treasured in his life. As a reader, i admire the style of writing, the mood and tone, the message, the thoughts, and creativity of the writer Noel Cabangon. I admire his skills on how he convey his...

THE GIFT OF THE MAGI (Reflection)

"The Gift of the Magi" teached me the meaning of true love; Della and Jim love each other more than they love themselves, for they are willing to sacrifice the things of which they are valued the most. The hair of Dallia and the watch of Jim, in order to buy something which they hope will please each other on the Christmas day. The story teached me the true love; it is not about the material things that we can give to our love ones, but instead, it is about our love that we can give to them, because love cannot be placed with other things, and  it cannot be bought. That is why, Love is the greatest gift that we can give. I like the story and how the characters show their love with each other and on how they wanted each other to be happy and pleased with their simple gifts. I have a lot of learnings in the story, and i want to see myself like them; a loving person.

AS LONG AS THE GRASS SHALL GROW (Reflection Essay)

In the Story "As long as the Grass Shall Grow", i saw how important the Education for everyone, specially for all the children. Sadly to say, as i observe, they are a lot of people nowadays that has the same condition just like the author, that many children face the early awareness of poverty, that's why many of them, instead of attending school, they need to work at their young age, in order for them to survive and help their parents to sustain their everyday needs. Just like the child in the story, when the teacher asked him, "how far have you gone at school? , he said that he was only finished his third grade at school, and together with his companions, they were all too young to work. But the things that i admire to the child is that his willingness to learn; his desire and love for education. As a student, i learned that i need to value my studying, i need to love what i am doing, and i need to treasure education, because not all people has the ability to stu...
